End user licence agreement
1. WHAT THIS IS
This is the agreement between you and Nocturne Voss covering your use of the Extension. It is short on purpose. The Extension is free, it has no account, it has no server, and it collects nothing about you, so most of what a licence usually has to arrange does not arise here.
By installing or using the Extension you accept this agreement. If you do not accept it, do not install the Extension, and remove it if it is already installed.
2. LICENCE GRANT
We grant you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Extension on any browser and any device that you own or control, for your own purposes, personal or commercial, for as long as this agreement is in force.
No fee is charged for this licence, now or later, for the version you have installed.
3. WHAT YOU MAY DO
You may:
a. install the Extension on as many of your own browsers and devices as you wish; b. use its output, meaning the transcripts and documents it produces, however you like, subject to section 6; c. read, inspect and study the source code shipped inside the package. The Extension is distributed as plain, unminified JavaScript, CSS and HTML, with no bundler and no obfuscation, precisely so that anyone can verify what it does; d. exercise any right granted to you by applicable law that this agreement cannot lawfully restrict, including the rights of observation, study and decompilation for interoperability under Directive 2009/24/EC and its national implementations.
4. WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO
You may not:
a. sell, rent, lease, sublicense or otherwise distribute the Extension or any part of it, whether modified or unmodified, whether for a fee or free of charge; b. publish the Extension, or a derivative of it, to any extension store, package registry, code host or download site, under this name or any other; c. remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark, authorship or licence notice contained in the package; d. represent the Extension as your own work, or represent a modified copy as the official one; e. use the Extension, or its name, in a way that suggests that Nocturne Voss endorses you, your product or your service; f. use the Extension to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or in breach of the terms of service of any site or provider you direct it at, including YouTube's.
Nothing in this section prevents you from making a private backup copy or from running a locally modified copy on your own machine for your own use.
5. OWNERSHIP
The Extension is licensed to you, not sold. Nocturne Voss retains all right, title and interest in and to the Extension, its source code, its name, its icons, its artwork and its documentation, except for the third-party material described in section 11.
6. THE CONTENT YOU PROCESS
The Extension reads the caption track and metadata of videos you choose to open it on. Those materials belong to their creators and to the platforms that host them, not to us and not to you.
We grant you no rights whatsoever in that content. What you may lawfully do with a transcript that the Extension produced for you is governed by copyright law, by the platform's terms, and by any licence the creator applied, and it is your responsibility to stay inside them. Reading a transcript for your own study or research is a very different act from republishing it, and this licence does not turn one into the other.
7. THIRD-PARTY MODEL PROVIDERS AND YOUR OWN KEYS
The AI-Ready mode works with no external service at all. It is generated locally, in your browser, by code shipped in the package.
If you choose to connect a model provider in Settings, and only then, the Extension sends the transcript and the video's title, channel and chapter list from your browser directly to the provider you selected, using the API key you supplied. Those providers are independent of us. Your use of them is governed by your own agreement with them and by their own privacy policies. We are not a party to that relationship, we receive nothing from it, and we are not responsible for their availability, their output, their pricing or their handling of your data.
You are responsible for the security of any API key you paste into the Extension and for any charges your provider bills you for calls the Extension makes on your instruction.
The option named "Nocturne Cloud" is a placeholder for a possible future hosted plan. It has no default address and performs no action unless you select it and supply an endpoint URL yourself. No such service is currently operating.
8. DONATIONS
The Extension may show a link to a voluntary support page, and, once, a link to its store listing so you can leave a review. Any payment made on the support page is a gift. It buys no licence, no feature, no service level and no support obligation, and it is not refundable by us. Every feature described in this agreement is available whether or not you give anything and whether or not you leave a review. Nothing is unlocked by rating the Extension and nothing is withheld for declining to.
9. PRIVACY
The Extension has no server, no account, no analytics and no telemetry, and it transmits nothing about you to us. What it reads, what it stores locally, and the one optional path on which data leaves your machine are all set out in the privacy policy, which is part of this agreement by reference:

10. UPDATES
We may publish updated versions. Your browser's extension store may install them automatically, according to your browser's own settings. An update is covered by this agreement, or by the version of this agreement shipped with it. We are under no obligation to publish updates, to maintain compatibility with future versions of any browser or website, or to keep the Extension available.
11. THIRD-PARTY MATERIAL AND TRADEMARKS
The Extension bundles no third-party libraries, no frameworks and no fonts. All code in the package was written for it.
YouTube and Google are trademarks of Google LLC. Anthropic, Claude, OpenAI, ChatGPT, Gemini, OpenRouter, Chrome, Opera, Microsoft Edge, Brave and Firefox are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used here only to say truthfully what the Extension works with.
The Extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or in any way officially connected to YouTube, Google LLC, or any model provider named in it.
12. NO WARRANTY
The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.
In particular, and stated plainly because these are the real limits of what it can do:
a. a video with no captions of any kind cannot be transcribed, because there is nothing to read; b. automatic captions are produced by speech recognition and contain errors. The Extension is faithful to what the caption track says, which is not always what the speaker said. It does not invent corrections; c. automatic captions carry no punctuation, so sentence boundaries are reconstructed from pauses and are approximate; d. the Extension depends on YouTube's own pages and endpoints, which change without notice and may stop working at any time; e. output from a connected model provider is generated by that provider and may be wrong. Do not rely on it for anything consequential without checking it.
We do not warrant that the Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will continue to function on any future version of any browser or website.
13. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nocturne Voss shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill or anticipated saving, arising out of or in connection with the Extension or this agreement, however caused and on any theory of liability.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Extension is limited to the greater of the amount you actually paid us for it, which is zero, and ten euros (EUR 10).
Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
14. YOUR RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER
If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that this agreement cannot take away, and nothing here is intended to do so. Sections 12 and 13 apply only so far as the law allows. Because the Extension is supplied free of charge and without collecting any personal data, most consumer remedies concerned with price and with data will simply have nothing to attach to, but the rights themselves remain yours.
15. TERM AND TERMINATION
This agreement starts when you install the Extension and continues until it ends.
You may end it at any time, for any reason, by uninstalling the Extension. Uninstalling also deletes the settings and any API key stored on your machine.
We may end it if you materially breach section 4, in which case you must stop using the Extension and remove it.
Sections 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 16 and 17 survive the end of this agreement.
16. CHANGES TO THIS LICENCE
We may revise this agreement for future versions of the Extension. A revised version is published with the version it applies to and carries a new date at the top. The agreement that applies to you is the one shipped with the version you are running. If you do not accept a revised agreement, do not install the version it accompanies.
17. GOVERNING LAW
This agreement is governed by French law, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts of France have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
If any provision of this agreement is held unenforceable, it is severed and the rest continues in force.
18. ENTIRE AGREEMENT
This agreement, together with the privacy policy referred to in section 9, is the entire agreement between you and Nocturne Voss regarding the Extension, and replaces anything said about it elsewhere.

The publisher's full identity and postal address are held on file by the extension store this copy was installed from, and are provided to any competent authority on request. Nothing about who publishes this extension is withheld from anyone entitled to ask.
